We’re the Cherveny family, learning to balance modern life with old-fashioned values on our seventeen-acre Texas homestead. From clearing brush to raising little ones, every project is a step toward something bigger: building a legacy.

For years, we dreamed about a place where our kids could run barefoot through the grass, where the evenings smelled like woodsmoke and rain, and where our family could build something lasting together. In 2025, that dream finally became real when we put down stakes on a patch of land with open skies, fruitful dewberry bushes, and huge potential.

Our goal isn’t speed or perfection, it’s progression. We are learning as we go, balancing full-time work, parenting, and leveling up our homesteading skills one project at a time. We’re clearing brush, improving the soil, installing utilities, and giving structure to wild land. Every fence post and every shovel of dirt represents something bigger than ourselves: a future where our family can thrive with our own hands and our own grit.

Family is at the heart of everything we’re doing. We want our children to grow up knowing where food comes from, to learn responsibility through caring for animals, and to understand the satisfaction of finishing a project you started. Whether we’re hauling gravel, pulling weeds, or wrangling barn cats, the work becomes lighter when we’re laughing together. This land is more than acreage—it’s our classroom, our backyard, and our adventure.

We don’t claim to have all the answers. We’re learning to balance modern life with old-fashioned values: simplicity, stewardship, and hard work. We’ll make mistakes, probably a lot of them, but every misstep is a step forward. And we’ve already learned that homesteading isn’t about perfection; it’s about growth, humility, and resilience.

Thank you for following along as we turn raw land into a place that reflects who we are and who we hope to become. If our story inspires someone else to chase their version of a simpler, more intentional life, then every challenge will be worth it. This isn’t just our homestead. This is our legacy.
